Who we are

Empowering Sri Lanka's Internet community

Sri Lanka Next Generation (SLNG) is a community based initiative dedicated to empowering students, young professionals, researchers and technology enthusiasts. We are an ICANN recognized At-Large Structure (ALS) representing Internet end users in Sri Lanka.

SLNG is a member of the Asian, Australasian and Pacific Islands Regional At-Large Organization (APRALO), connecting the local community to the global multi-stakeholder Internet ecosystem — including ICANN, APNIC and the Asia Pacific Next Generation (APNG).

Develop future Internet leaders by providing education, mentorship and networking opportunities, and raise awareness of Internet governance across Sri Lanka.

A knowledgeable, inclusive and empowered Sri Lankan Internet community, where youth participate confidently in shaping the global Internet.

SLNG was recognized as an ALS representing Internet end users in Sri Lanka within the ICANN community.

2015

Memorandum of Understanding with APNIC

SLNG and APNIC agreed to cooperate and encourage the development of the Internet in Sri Lanka.

What is SLNG?

Sri Lanka Next Generation (SLNG) is a community based initiative and an ICANN recognized At-Large Structure (ALS) representing Internet end users in Sri Lanka. We empower students, young professionals, researchers and technology enthusiasts.

What does it mean to be an ICANN At-Large Structure?

An At-Large Structure is a community group recognized by ICANN to represent the interests of individual Internet users. SLNG has held ALS status since 2015 and is a member of APRALO, the regional At-Large organization for Asia, Australasia and the Pacific Islands.

Who can join SLNG?

Anyone interested in the Internet — students, young professionals, researchers and technology enthusiasts across Sri Lanka. You can take part in workshops, apply for fellowships, volunteer, or join the Next Generation Leaders program.

What programs does SLNG run?

We run training and workshops, technical and policy discussions, network security trainings, IPv6 programs, Safer Internet initiatives, ICT career guidance, APNG local camps and the flagship Next Generation Leaders (NGL) program.
